Scene context: Persephone has been set free at Zeus’ command and is reunited with her mother. The two sing of the happiness they feel at being together once again. However, Persephone also tries to warn of the evil twist that awaits, while her blissful mother is oblivious. Persephone ate the food of the underworld so that she would have to return and help Icarus, and Hades arrives to enforce the consequence of her decision.
