Scene context: Above ground, Demeter, on strike, has been disguised in a Greek village. In an attempt to ease their suffering because of no crops -- she has tried to give immortality to one of the boys of the village, but it all goes awry. Demeter reprimands the people for their lack of faith. Demeter, joined by Heracles, Prometheus and Daedallus, all have differing views of immortality, which are shared and debated as the villagers chant of their motivations, too.
